The Small Print and Technical Requirements
- Please note that our working area, power sockets & equipment need to be safe & secure and if you wish us to play outdoors, everything must be completely protected from the weather [hot sun, cold, rain, wind] and you agree to provide an adequate covered area/weighted canopy [with roof & three sides] plus safe power from the venue with safely positioned cables for us to use outside. Any damage caused to our equipment from your failure to supply adequate protection means you will be liable.
- Approx 8ft wide x 5ft deep is preferred, please, but we will try to fit into smaller spaces where possible. A stage platform is not necessary, but level floor covering is required.
- Please also note, we are not an acoustic act, therefore we have mains powered speakers, floor monitors, mixer desk , keyboards, plus a saxophone & bongos, which means, we will need to remain in the same position throughout. De-rigging, moving to another room and setting up again elsewhere is not an option we offer, sorry.
- Please also note that we will need to get our van close to the building/venue to enable ease of access and efficient load-in/load-out so we can set up and leave unhindered. We also need a parking space for our van.
- We need two power sockets, if possible, but we can work from one.
- We will need somewhere to store instrument cases/bags etc and somewhere to get changed, please.
- We don't allow members of the public etc to use any of our equipment for Health and Safety/Insurance reasons. If microphones are required for speeches etc, you will need to make other arrangements. No one other than Smooth Duo is permitted to enter our performance area for Health & Safety Reasons.
- We will need access to the performance area a minimum of 2 hours before so that we can set up, sound check and change clothes before guests arrive.
- You agree to provide food plus tea/coffee or water to drink free of charge. If we are required to perform at lunch time [which means we have to set off from home early enough to get in/set up & be ready for lunchtime guests,] you agree to provide us with a free breakfast. You also agree to providing us with food after the event as part of our wages NB We never drink alcohol when we are working.
- We only perform at venues which are on the UK mainland and which comply with Health and Safety regulations.
- BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS
The fee will be paid either in cash to the Artiste at the performance or via BACS payment either before or no later than 7 days after the performance.
In the event of accident, vehicle breakdown, act of God, Force Majeure or illness, etc, preventing the Artiste from appearing, the Hirer shall be informed at the earliest opportunity and any payment returned in full.
Notice of termination of the engagement by the Hirer must be given in writing not less than 30 days before. If this notice is not given the Hirer agrees to pay the fee in full, because the Artiste will have turned down bookings elsewhere and will be out of pocket otherwise.
No booking is confirmed by the Artiste unless all terms & conditions have been agreed, a signed contract has been received and a deposit paid.
