We're Smooth Duo, a professional live music duo based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, specialising in live background music for hotels, restaurants and hospitality venues across the Midlands and beyond.
With Susie's warm contralto vocals, Andy's expressive saxophone, keyboards, harmonica and subtle percussion, we complement the atmosphere you've created with live music that enhances your guests' experience. After years of performing for hotels, restaurants and prestigious private events at venues including Chatsworth House, The Cavendish Hotel, Baslow and several of the luxury Hand Picked Hotels, we've learned how to read a room and understand exactly the role live music should play in a successful hospitality setting. Our experience includes events featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra, together with guest arrival drinks receptions for artists including Lulu, Jason Donovan, Russell Watson and Ken Dodd. We've also performed at private events for the casts of Coronation Street, Doctor Who and Emmerdale.

Between us, we have decades of professional performing experience across live music, theatre and television, as well as many years providing relaxed live background music for hotels, restaurants, weddings, corporate events and private celebrations.

As a guide, we most often perform either two 45-minute sets or three 30-minute sets. These timings work particularly well for guest arrival drinks, drinks receptions, Sunday lunch, evening dining and other occasions where relaxed live background music helps create the right atmosphere without ever becoming the focus.

Yes. Smooth Duo is completely self-contained, and we always set up and pack away our own equipment.
We normally arrive around two hours before guests are due to arrive, allowing plenty of time to unload, set up, carry out a soundcheck and be completely ready before your event begins.
Our aim is to work quietly and professionally behind the scenes, so by the time your guests arrive everything is in place and ready to create the right atmosphere. At the end of the performance, we pack away efficiently, leaving your venue exactly as we found it.
